About Aspirations of Life

Aspirations of Life was established in 2009 as a 501c3 nonprofit organization. We have a commitment to improving the quality of life for families who reside in Chicago and surrounding south suburban communities. Aspirations of Life provides valuable services in order to create healthier and stronger communities.

Mission -We empower youth to reach their full potential, in a safe environment, where they build positive and lasting relationships with supportive adult mentors. Youth who participate in our programs and services gain the tools needed to become successful, responsible and productive members of society.

About the Founder 

Tiffany M. Fincher , Philanthropy is her true passion and for many years have been a way of life for Mrs. Fincher. She is the founder and Executive Director of Aspirations of Life, a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded in 2009.  Aspirations of Life is a community based organization that provides mentor based programs to youth between the ages of 5-18 years old.  She built the foundation for Aspirations of Life with a mission to mentor, educate and inspire youth to be everything that they are destined to be.       

Tiffany graduated from Governors State University receiving an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies minoring in Social Work and completed her graduate degree from Argosy University concentrating on Nonprofit Management. Mrs. Fincher has received recognition for her commitment and dedication to service from Top Ladies of Distinction, Zeta Phi Beta and Elect Ladies. She has also been featured in Elation Magazine, Sister to Sister Radio Show, and on several  other media outlets. Tiffany is also a member of 40 Under 40: Young Women Professionals League developed by Demoiselle 2 Femme to honor and recognize young women who are rising leaders making an impact in their field.

Tiffany is passionate about providing mentorship to young people as a way of support and guidance.  She says, “In many ways, mentoring represents the concept of It Takes a Village.” It is an approach that offers support to families and one that helps provide youth with the guidance and care that is needed to nurture them.  Mrs. Fincher prides herself with heartfelt contributions to empower young people. She wholeheartedly believes that youth need role models who can be an example of who they can be if they dream big and remain focused on their goals. Her personal mission is to help young people embrace the power that each of them have within; knowing that they have something to offer the world. 

Board of Directors

Aspirations of Life’s Board of Directors is composed of individuals who bring a blend of personal and professional backgrounds and experiences. The following individuals are currently Directors of Aspirations of Life.

Shawn FincherPresident    Shawn D. Fincher has been in the Banking/Finance industry for over twelve years. He has held multiple positions throughout his career from account manager, credit underwriter, personal banker, and eventually finding his niche as part of several management teams. Currently, he is a Branch Manager at one of the top banks in Illinois. Shawn has always  found joy in giving back to the community. He has been a key team member to help make repairs at the Haven House, he also participates in the Crohn’s and Colitis walk as well as the walk against child abuse. Shawn is involved with the Crete Chamber, Steger Chamber, and Kiwanis Club. He holds a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Mathematics from Chicago State University. Shawn joined Aspirations of Life’s Board of Directors in 2011. He serves as Board President and as Committee Chair for Solicitation and In-Kind Donations.

Jessica SoetanVice PresidentA graduate of DePauw University, Jessica received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a minor in English Literature. Upon graduating, Jessica began working in corporate America, she currently holds the position of Performance Consultant for her company.  Jessica enjoys her occupation and finds fulfillment in giving back to the community. As a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. her passion for community service has been apart of her as she has dedicated many hours to tutoring children in reading and public speaking, participating in Cancer Research, Aids Awareness, AIDS/HIV testing, and as a Motivational Speaker. Jessica is dedicated to giving youth the tools that they need to become successful young adults. Jessica joined Aspirations of Life’s Board of Directors in 2012  and serves as  Vice President,  Committee Chair for Special Events and  assists  as  Program Evaluator.  Felicia R. Horton- ChairpersonA graduate of Roosevelt University (Master’s Degree in Integrated Marketing Communications), Felicia Horton epitomizes the true spirit of a masterful communications professional and philanthropic leader. Ms. Horton brings strategic development, account management, fundraising and business development, and marketing campaign execution experience to the Board. She has an in-depth understanding of executive board leadership and a 360-degree strategic grasp of media (digital, social, traditional), communications, public relations and marketing. In addition, her leadership and service on other boards bring strong negotiation, interpersonal and client relationship skills. Felicia joined Aspirations of Life’s Board of Directors in March 2015. She serves as a Board Member and  assists in the area of marketing .
 Ronald Muhammad- TreasurerBusiness Practices Specialist within the Strategic Advisory Solutions Group for Goldman Sachs, has  taken the experiences and knowledge gained from numerous corporate environments and entrepreneurial endeavors to create a successful career in the financial services industry.  His business-like leadership style gained from working for Fortune 500 companies gives him a unique perspective of effective marketing strategies, leadership techniques, and best practices. Mr. Muhammad demonstrates his leadership acumen by providing programs and services that advocate personal and professional development.  He speaks at local schools and community centers to demonstrate the importance of giving back to one’s community.  Deeply committed to self-improvement and personal growth, Mr. Muhammad seeks to assist others on their journey to self empowerment. Ronald joined Aspirations of Life in 2010 as a mentor and then as an ambassador and now as part of  the Board of Directors. Aisha Massey- Secretary  Ms. Massey has worked in the nonprofit sector for the past 14 years. She has worked diligently in the areas of customer service, administration, finance, and fundraising.  She is a resourceful individual whose positive attitude and effective communication skills have fostered lasting professional relationships. Her ability to adapt to challenges and perform at a high level of excellence is consistently praised by her peers and management team. She has received several recognition awards for commitment and leadership.  Ms. Massey has a true passion for philanthropy and advocacy. Aisha joined Aspirations of Life’s Board of Directors in March 2015. She serves as our Board Secretary and as Volunteer Coordinator.
Lisa Waits- Board MemberLisa Waits has volunteered in the non-profit sector over a span of 20 years.  She has been a Project Coordinator for many community service events and fundraisers. Her organizational skills, positive energy and communication skills creates great professional partnerships.  She has worked with Clara’s House and Sarah’s Circle Shelter for their annual holiday donation drive.  In addition, Lisa participates in the yearly 5k walk for the Alzheimer’s Association and the Heart Association.  Mrs. Waits is committed to making a difference, she is passionate about philanthropy and has a genuine heart of service. Lisa joined Aspirations of Life’s Board of Directors in March 2015.  She is a Board Member and serves as Committee Chair for Community Service Projects and as Co-Volunteer Coordinator.
